The town of Pangkalan Bun is one of the city center in Central Kalimantan province. Therefore, the traffic is
quite dense, this is due to human activity and passing vehicles at crossroads, especially at Jalan Pakunegara,
Jalan Udan Said, Jalan Ahmad Yani and Jalan PKGB 2 this situation will continue to increase with the
growth of population and number of vehicles , With the increasing number of vehicles it will cause
congestion. In connection with the above issues need to analyze the intersection with attention to the
condition of the road geometry, traffic volumes, and environmental barriers adverse side which is the
commercial area. How research is to conduct field surveys to obtain primary data and secondary data.
Analysis in this study using a reference Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI) 1997. Traffic data is
obtained from the number of vehicles in the field were surveyed for 4 days (January 31, 1.2, and February 3,
2015) on the rush hour. From the analysis of the initial conditions can be concluded that the intersection of
Jalan Pakunegara, Jalan Udan Said, Jalan Ahmad Yani and Jalan PKGB 2 has a value Degree of Saturation
(DS) = 0.457. This value does not exceed the value of DS suggested by MKJI 1997 was signalized
intersections is 0.85. It is therefore no need for engineering planning at the intersection of Jalan Pakunegara,
Jalan Udan Said, Jalan Ahmad Yani and Jalan PKGB 2.
